Perm or Temporary Curls: How to Choose?

A long-lasting perm or temporary curls? Before choosing, consider a few things: your hair length, volume and color, and above all, how long you want to keep your curls.

A perm: curls for several months

A perm curls hair for the long term. Choosing a perm means keeping the same hairstyle for several months. Your stylist uses products that set the shape of your hair, and rods sized for the curls you want.

The choice of products is key to protecting your hair. Choose ones that hydrate naturally, to keep hair supple and healthy.

A perm works on many hair lengths. Your stylist may, however, shorten your hair slightly so the curls hold better. Au 2e offers keratin perms, adapted to your hair type.

Can you go back after a perm?

The products that set the curls are made to last. If you want your original hair back, you have two options:

  • wait for the curls to relax over time;
  • cut the curled hair and let your natural hair grow back.

Straightening is also possible. Your stylist will make sure the perm you had is compatible with the right straightening treatment.

After a perm, regular care with suitable shampoos and protective masks keeps your hair healthy.

A curly blowout: curls for an event

Before committing to a perm, try a curly blowout for a wavy effect. Depending on your hair's volume and length, it takes 45 minutes or less. Perfect for a special event, it lets your hair return to its natural shape after a few hours.
