Sinka Smoothing: Process, Results and Aftercare
From Japan, Sinka smooths hair for the long term while repairing it. It suits all hair types, lasts 6 to 8 months and can be done right after hair color. Here's how it works, what it contains and how to make it last.
What is Sinka smoothing?
Sinka smoothing is a Japanese repairing treatment, done exclusively in the salon. It combines effective smoothing with deep care, for a natural-looking result.
Tailored to you, it can fully smooth hair or simply relax the curl, depending on the result you want.
What's in the treatment
Inkarami technology brings together ingredients known for the shine, suppleness and hydration they provide:
- six high-quality keratins;
- fullerene, a powerful antioxidant molecule. It helps nourishing ingredients penetrate the hair fiber, even on colored hair, and keeps the cuticle closed, protecting hair from external damage, including UV rays;
- amino acids from sheep's wool and feathers, as well as silk protein;
- meadowfoam, a plant-based ingredient that coats and protects the hair.
Together, these ingredients slow color fading, natural or not, and keep hair healthy. The products are not tested on animals.
Which hair types?
Sinka smoothing suits all hair types: coily, curly, wavy, straight or frizzy. It even straightens the curliest hair.
It is especially recommended for hair that is dry or damaged by sun, color or flat irons. In summer, it protects hair from sun and salt water; after vacation, it repairs it in depth.
How does Sinka smoothing work?
Allow 3 to 4 hours, depending on your hair length. The process follows precise steps, in a set order:
- a neutral-pH shampoo, followed by a protector for sensitive hair;
- a reducing agent, to soften the hair so it can be worked;
- a deep hydrating treatment;
- smoothing with a comb, a processing time, then rinsing and drying completely;
- smoothing with a flat iron;
- a neutralizer, left on for a few minutes before rinsing.
Then comes styling. This order repairs the hair in depth while making it easier to straighten, for a more natural, longer-lasting result.
Sinka smoothing and hair color
Usually, freshly colored hair shouldn't be smoothed. Sinka smoothing is the exception: it can be done right after hair color, and it even repairs damage caused by coloring agents.
How long does Sinka smoothing last?
The results last 6 to 8 months: hair stays smooth, revitalized and stronger. How long it lasts depends mainly on how fast your hair grows, since regrowth isn't smoothed. Depending on your cut, a touch-up may be needed after 4 or 5 months.
It also cuts down your daily styling time: you'll need your flat iron and blow-dryer less, and your style holds longer between washes.
How to make it last
- An in-salon treatment 6 to 8 weeks after smoothing, depending on your hair type, to reinforce the result and nourish the hair.
- Limit heat and additional color treatments, which damage the hair.
- The right products at home: a neutral-pH cleanser, a hydrating treatment, a nourishing oil and a repairing mask.
